Funding of 13.1 bn euro for transport projects

It is official: the European Commission has selected 276 transport projects that will receive co-financing under the first call for proposals of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), the EU's infrastructure fund. The CEF will invest a total of €13.1 billion in the projects, which include certain "emblematic" undertakings, such as the Lyon-Torino line, the Brenner base tunnel, Rail Baltica, the Seine-Escaut canal and the tunnel under the Fehmarn Belt strait that separates Germany from Denmark.
