The Committee on the Environment (ENVI) in the European Parliament has delivered a scathing verdict on a Commission communication responding to the European citizens' initiative (ECI) on water, Right2Water. Adopting a draft report on this initiative - prepared by Lynn Boylan (GUE-NGL, Ireland) - on 25 June, with 38 votes in favour, 22 against and six abstentions, MEPs said the Commission's response is vague and "lacks any real ambition". This could discredit the ECI process, they said.
