The 328 winners of the first competition under Horizon 2020 for the European Research Council’s ‘ starting grants ’ were announced on 15 December. The grantees will receive up to €2 million each for a period of five years “to develop their ambitious high-risk, high-gain research projects”. In total, the call represents €485 million.
