One hundred billion for the French electricity transmission network : RTE’s « unprecedented » plan

The French electricity transmission system operator is submitting its next ten-year network development plan (SDDR) for consultation. A €100 billion plan between now and 2040 to adapt the network to the new electricity system, the executive’s desire to reindustrialise and climate change. RTE will have to prioritise.

RTE puts it very simply: achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 means "planning the third major stage in the construction of the French electricity system". The first two were the reconstruction of France after the Second World War, followed by the construction of nuclear power plants in the 1980s.
