France’s new government features the absence of Europe Ecology – the Greens, a new minister of ecology, sustainable development and energy, and an boosted portfolio for the minister of industrial renewal, who is now also the minister of economy and digital economy.
The new cabinet was appointed by President François Hollande on 2 April following his Socialist Party’s humiliating defeat in the local elections. Its junior coalition partner, the Greens, scored well and refused to re-enter the government.
