The EU Court of Justice (ECJ) has ruled (Case Case C‑5/14) that an extra tax on fuel rods in Germany’s nuclear power plants does not breach EU law. Even though the court’s advocate-general had already argued against the claimant, the shares of Germany's largest utilities were hit by the judgement on 4 June, losing roughly one percentage point more than the general market by afternoon. The lawsuit was filed by a nuclear power plant owned by RWE.
