All 73,000 tonnes of household waste produced each year in the Eastern part of the Département of Saône-et-Loire are currently buried underground. The local associations have decided to transform it into energy. Their umbrella organisation, SMET71, wants to build a biomethane facility in Chagny in the Département of Saône-et-Loire (Burgundy, East-Central France).
