French group EDF signs up to import American shale gas

Following in the wake of French energy firm Total and four other European energy companies, EDF signed an agreement, on 17 July, with Corpus Christi Liquefaction, a subsidiary of American energy group Cheniere. The American firm has not made public the financial details of the contract, which covers the supply of around 770,000 tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year (380,000 tonnes to start).
